In 1838, for just $650, Henry Irby purchased 202 ½ acres surrounding the present intersection of Peachtree, Roswell, and West Paces Ferry roads. He soon established a general store and “tavern” at the junction and a small crossroads community was born!
Buckhead Heritage, in partnership with the Buckhead Business Association, celebrated the 175th anniversary of the founding of the community with an evening party at the Buckhead Theatre, which stands at the historic hub of this once far-flung, rural settlement. Around 350 guests at the event enjoyed great music, dancing, drinks and hors d’oeuvres. A photographic retrospective of Buckhead’s history also served to educate, entertain, and encourage guests to share their own memories of this ever-evolving community.
