Cocktails and Cartouches
About forty-five guests gathered for an opening reception at the Raymond L. Goins Studio and then boarded a bus for a tour that wound through Peachtree Heights West, Haynes Manor, and Tuxedo Park, highlighting the remarkable architecture from 1910 to 1935 that characterizes Buckhead’s finest neighborhoods. Wright Marshall, President of Revival Construction and Executive Board Member of the ICAA, and Jonathan Wills LaCrosse, designer at D. Stanley Architect, served as guides on the journey. Architects Norman Askins and Laura Depree also provided their insights on select architectural masterpieces, while landscape architect Spencer Tunnell shared his expertise on the notable landscape characteristics along the route. Mid-way through the tour, guests were treated to refreshments at “Marcan Hall.” Located at 65 Valley Road, this Tudor Revival style residence was built in 1934 for Samuel Candler Dobbs, Jr.
