Biography

James Frazer Durrett, Jr. was born in 1931 at Emory University Hospital. He attended Miss Bloodworth’s Kindergarten, E. Rivers Elementary, and North Fulton High School where he was the President of Student Body. Mr. Durett attended Emory University as an undergraduate before continuing his education at Princeton University and Harvard School of Law. Mr. Durrett was an attorney with Alston & Bird and its predecessor firms for over forty years.

Abstract of Interview

Mr. Durrett describes growing up in Buckhead as a child and his school years. He mentions the E. Rivers Elementary School fire that occurred in 1948. Mr. Durrett discusses his college years at Emory University, Princeton University, and Harvard School of Law. He describes his decision to practice law in the Atlanta and talks about his friend and partner Bobby Jones. He speaks proudly of his work while he was on the board at the Howard School. Mr. Durrett describes the growth of Buckhead and tells a few stories from his childhood.
