The Buckhead Theatre opened June 2, 1930, with an inaugual program headlined by the musical comedy “Gold Diggers of Broadway.” Upon the film’s release in 1929, Billboard had called it “the best thing thus far produced in the talkie era. It’s a howl for laughts and a beauty for music and color, with just enough dancing to make any audience happy.” Although it’s mostly a lost film, portions of its last two reels survive.
